1. agony (n) 苦惱,痛苦,劇痛,陣痛

The villagers believed the girl was possessed by demons.
3. gnaw (v) 咬,啃,消耗,折磨,侵蝕
The dog was gnawing a bone.
4. intense (a) 非常的,強烈的,緊張的,熱情的
He shielded his eyes from the intense flash of light.
5. lure (v) 引誘,誘惑
The fish simply didn't seem to like the lure I was using, so I didn't catch a thing.
6. repent (v) 後悔,懊悔,懺悔
The preacher told us that we would be forgiven if we repented our sins.
7. sear (a) 枯萎的,烤焦的(v)烤焦,使枯萎
The cold wind seared all the flowers.
8. scorch (v)燒焦,枯黃,拷焦,(使)枯萎
Jenny scorch her jacket carelessly while she is smoking her pipe.
